Community & Lemonade

It’s here! The goal is to find a better way to cure childhood leukemia. The method is lemonade, the theme is COMMUNITY. The word Winnetka (our hometown) means “beautiful place”. And it is a beautiful place, a place where community comes together to support it’s residents, even the tiniest ones. This weekend, Winnetka children are doing just this. 13 stands of kids are selling lemonade to support their friend, Reese, and her mission to raise 20k. In the words of little 5-year-old Ella, “I’m so excited for this weekend!” Me- Why? (Expecting to hear about a fun itinerary of childhood goings-on.) “Because, in 3 days I get to have a lemonade stand. And the money helps people!!” Pure joy. It’s just, beautiful.
Reese and her friends are donating this money directly to groundbreaking leukemia research. We know that our littlest villagers are the next generation of doctors, researchers, advocates, friends, family and neighbors. And they are the ones who WILL cure cancer someday! If you happen to be in Winnetka this weekend, please visit us, the Winnetka maps are below. Reese will be at Willow and Poplar on Saturday morning until noon, then visiting other stands in the afternoon, and finally we will bounce around all of the stands on Sunday. And if you aren’t in Winnetka, we have additional stands, 20+ total going up around the country this weekend, yes it’s so cool, I can’t wait to share our progress here next week!! Missoula, Chicago, Johnston, Downers Grove, San Francisco, Rogers, Lake Zurich (at Bellalukes), Florida, Addison, Westmont, & Minneapolis. Or visit us on our website for a virtual cup of lemonade!
I’ll fill you in next week… Go Reese, and your small but mighty pack of fundraisers!
